The OLT case of the South Park Road Development proceeded in October, 2023. The Tribunal was satisfied with the proposed settlement between the Developer and the City of Markham, and found that the proposal had addressed all concepts of the case parties and participants.
The LCA found that the Developer and the City had not completely addressed the concerns raised by the community. Nevertheless, the next step where the community can participate is the Site Plan Review. The LCA continues to focus on any amenities from the development that will benefit the community. Your feedback is very important in driving this to succeed.
The LCA also has followed a few other developments in the City of Markham. As the housing demand continues to be a main issue, more developers will seek approval via OLT to speed up development.
The LCA will continue to follow up of the development and post any update to the website here.

The Leitchcroft Community Association (LCA) is officially registered as a ratepayer association with the City of Markham on March 23, 2023. It has been half a year since the LCA has established by the first 10 members. The South Park Development has driven most of us to start the LCA, but this is not the only issue to which we have paid attention.
There are 2 development proposals around the Leitchcroft Community: 1) The South Park Road Development inside the Leitchcroft Community, and 2) The Parkway Hotels Development in Richmond Hill, north-east to the Community.
More details regarding the South Park Road Development can be found here. The applicant has appealed to the Ontario Land Tribute against the City of Markham. The LCA has submitted a written statement to the City of Markham with concerns about the development.
The Parkway Hotels Development is at the early stage of the development approval. More information regarding the development can be found here. The LCA has provided both a verbal and written statement with concerns about the development in the Richmond Hill Council Public Meeting on May 26, 2023.
The LCA is not against development; however, the main concern is the high-density developments leads to overcrowding on roadways, transportation, schools, parks and public areas, resulting in more conflicts and negativities in the community.
The LCA has submitted a request to the City of Markham to evaluate the addition of a Stop Sign at Saddlecreek Dr and Gallery Pkwy, so that the pedestrians can cross the intersection safely.
Requests to paint crosswalk marking have also been submitted for the intersection at Saddlecreek Dr and South Park Road.
