LEGO EV3 Classroom: Robot Trainer Course

Welcome to the Course

What is this site?

This site is designed to bring in fun challenging robotics challenges to the classroom. This is a companion site for the LEGO EV3 Course for educators getting started with LEGO EV3 or needing help converting to the new software.

Everything in this course will be used from the software application itself or the LEGO Education website. This is intentional as you will experience the learning as a student, but in the back of your mind thinking about turning around and using it as a teacher with your own students.

This site will provide troubleshooting tips, videos documenting the process through the Robot Trainer Unit as I know some of you are like me where it is easier to process watching videos vs. reading all the time.

When you are ready, check out the video below and ensure you have what you need to complete the course.

Did I tell you that you are awesome yet?

I want to first start off by congratulating you… Seriously!

Not many people take action and start learning a skill using hardware that can be intimidating to many people. There is no need to be intimidated, but it happens more than you know. People see the Mindstorms kit and feel that it can seem so difficult. So thank you for improving yourself and inherently improving the world.

As computer science continues to grow in many states and in our state of Iowa now being required in K-12 setting the Mindstorms kit can be a powerful tool to teach some incredible concepts and skills.

The skills you build from this course can and will be used for the rest of your life.

You will be able to build your own solutions to difficult problems in the real world with knowledge from this course.

You will be able to expand classroom tasks and proejcts that continuously burden learning by bringing a hands on approach to the learning process.

There are countless benefits to the journey of learning about the Mindstorms Robotics Kit.. You are at ground zero so be sure to take it slow and be patient with yourself learning a new skill.

As you go through the training please share your progress with others by posting what you have built to our Slack community.
