The Unknown

Anthony and the Unknown

After meeting Bigfoot in the forest Anthony takes off running for home. He knows he has to tell someone about the amazing he sight he just witnessed. Anthony thinks to himself, "But who is going to believe a kid like me?" He begins trying to figure out a way to convince the people of his village that he just saw Bigfoot. He realizes that he has no evidence of his experience in the forest.

By this point Anthony has reached the edge of his village and heads for his house. Once he has arrived he finds his parents and two older brothers, Wesley and Andy, sitting in the living room of their house.

"You guys will never believe what I just saw!" exclaims Anthony.

Anthony's mother, a little concerned, gets up to greet her son. She asks, "Anthony, where have you been all day?"

"Mom, listen, I know this is going to sound crazy but I saw him!" Anthony said.

Anthony's mother still very much confused and concerned says to him, "Anthony, I need you to tell us where you were and who you saw."

Anthony then proceeds to tell his family about his adventure out in the forest that day. He makes sure not to leave out a single detail so that they would have to believe him. After the story his family just stares at him and then they begin to laugh. They believe he has just made up this whole story to get attention. He tries to get them to believe him, but of course without evidence they will always think it is just a story of his imagination.

The next day Anthony decides he is going to go back to the forest and find his evidence to make them believe. Maybe he can find some of Bigfoot's hair? He is heading out and trying to retrace his footsteps from the day before. What Anthony does not know is that his two older brothers decided to follow him that day. They have never been in the forest with him and they wanted to know what he does all day.

Anthony reaches the forest and begins looking for the footprints that he saw the day before. He finally finds a set in the mud and is now following them. He is now even calling out to Bigfoot. The two brothers are still following and hiding behind trees to make sure they are not seen.

Out of nowhere appears a Centaur! He is half human and half horse. Human upper body with the lower body of a horse and walks around on four legs. He heard Anthony calling to and came out to see what was going on. Anthony is even more shocked than if he had found Bigfoot again. What was this creature he found? He recognized Bigfoot immediately, but not this one. Anthony begins to back up away from the creature and hides behind a tree. The centaur, unlike Bigfoot, speaks perfect English and can communicate with Anthony.

The two brothers are still hiding and just watching in shock. They know it is not Bigfoot but they too are not sure what it is.

The Centaur was able to communicate with Anthony and explain to him what he was. He tells Anthony that his name is Chiron and that he is a skilled archer and came to these woods to practice archery.

All of a sudden the two brothers come out from hiding and begin talking to Chiron with Anthony. They apologize for following him but they have to know what this creature is. Chiron then goes on to explain about the Centaurs to all three of the brothers. At the end he pleads to the brothers to not tell anyone, ever, about him. No one can know he exists or that he is in these woods.

Anthony looks at his brothers and just says, "I told you."

Before they left Anthony secretly rips a few of Chiron's hairs out (he has a lot so he did not notice). The three brothers head home to tell their parents about Chiron. They hope that the hairs will be enough proof. Anthony is still wondering if he would ever see Bigfoot again.

Author's Note:

With this story I decided to use the older brothers, Wesley and Andy, more to incorporate more characters. This time while trying to find Bigfoot Anthony and the brothers found a Centaur. Centaurs are a Greek legend that are half human and half horse. They have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse. There are many different origin stories of where they came from. They appear on many forms of ancient Greek art. Homer even mentions them in his writing the "Odyssey". They are known to be a little more on the wild side and like to fight. Chiron is one of the most well known Centaurs in mythology. He is believed to be wise and to be great at archery. In this story I had the Centaur be Chiron since he is the most well known and more people will likely have heard of him. Also, he could be practicing his archery and that is why he is in those woods. Centaurs have appeared in several modern day stories such as Narnia and Harry Potter. Both of these stories depict the Centaurs in a very different way. This goes along with the idea that no one really knows the characteristics of Centaurs.
