IMPORTANT: Some clans have more ranks, however they may be sub-ranks or specialty ranks. These are just the universal ranks of the clans. Check other clan pages for more ranks with explanations.
The Leader is at the top of the clan hierarchy, and as per their duties, their responsibility is to shepherd their clan to glory while also ensuring that the clan does not fizzle out to the chaos that comes to every clan eventually.
Deputies are second in command in the clan hierarchy. They are appointed by the leader to assist them in the management of clan affairs or tasks. They often organize patrols throughout the day and communicate with their clanmates to stay current on clan business.
When the leader dies, the deputy succeeds them, and a new deputy is appointed before Moonhigh.
As a mysterious illness grew, the clans knew they needed some way to keep the strength of higher command...
The Primary Deputy is the official second-in-command and is expected to become leader. Meanwhile, the Secondary Deputy acts as a backup, stepping in if the Primary Deputy is unable to do their duties.
If the leader dies while both deputies are present, the Primary Deputy takes over, while the Secondary Deputy ascends to the primary role, and a new secondary is chosen.
Different clans have different names for this position, such as:
ThunderClan - Captain
ShadowClan - Phantom
RiverClan - Harbinger
SkyClan - Warden
WindClan - Regent
The Secondary Deputy will serve as an apprentice to the Deputy, learning how to do their duties before taking their place. When the Leader requires a message to be conveyed, these cats can also serve as messengers if need be.
Healers are cats who are more concerned with healing their clanmates and learning herb usage than with fighting or other clan problems. They are also usually their Clan's connection to StarClan, though there have been healers in the past who have not had a connection but are nonetheless highly skilled in their work. In terms of guiding responsibilities, they are expected to guide their clan's leader and educate their own healer apprentice. Each clan is encouraged to have three fully trained healers to prevent the clan from falling into disarray.
While most clans use the term Healer, WindClan refers to their healer as a Seer. Seers are expected to strengthen their connection with StarClan, and prioritize that over anything else, perhaps even healing itself.
Healer Apprentices will train under the clan's current healer(s). They learn how to correctly utilize herbs and seek direction from their ancestors. They are also taught to read omens and interpret dreams as needed. Other than that, they serve just as healers do.
The title of warrior has different meanings in most clans. However in general, they are the cats who have fewer obligations and responsibilities than the higher-ranking cats and occupy the majority of the clan space. They are supposed to hunt for their clan and defend their home if necessary, and are supposed to follow the warrior code throughout their daily lives. A warrior may train an apprentice one day, or ascend to the rank of deputy.
SkyClan's warrior titles are Hawks and Roots. Hawks are cats that have been specifically taught, and practically raised, in trees and can use them to easily hunt or battle. Hawks are extremely hazardous to encounter in battle, therefore be cautious when fighting them and try to get them on the ground if you can. Roots, on the other hand, are more in sync with the ground beneath their paw. They are more comfortable with their paws on the ground and are typically extremely competent in areas where Hawks are not.
ShadowClan's warrior titles are Dawn Walkers and Evening Stalkers. Dawn Walkers are a bit of a rarity within ShadowClan since ShadowClan cats are primarily nocturnal, but are necessary for the protection of the clan. Evening Stalkers are the majority of ShadowClan warriors, as they take to the night to ensure no clan will take advantage of them when night falls.
WindClan's warrior titles are Tunnelers and Gale Runners. Gale Runners are cats who enjoy WindClan's vast moors and are known for being the fastest cats near the lake, and are incredibly skilled at hunting. Tunnelers are also a tremendous addition to WindClan. Tunnels beneath the lake were exposed seasons ago, and since then, WindClan has divided their warriors so that Tunnelers can upgrade and use these pre-made tunnels to their benefit. Whatever it may be...

At six moons, these cats train to become future warriors. They are taught the code, hunting techniques, and how to protect their community. They normally graduate to Warriorhood at 12 moons, however the ceremony may be done earlier or later depending on the circumstances.
Kittens are newborn cats who are considered kittens for the first six months of their lives. They are the clan's most protected members, and are often cared for by a monarch or the clan's monarchs collectively.
Monarchs are the clans' new parents. They are in the nursery while caring for their newborns; however, cats can opt to be Perma-Monarchs and help raise any future kittens if they so choose.
Elders are the clan's oldest cats, having lived for many seasons. They frequently spend their days repeating old stories or scolding the younger ones about what they're doing wrong. They are exceptionally well-cared for since they have served the clan and are now expected to serve it.
