Transcend: Bakhtinian circles and their philosophies of language and culture inspired me to think of studies and frameworks that transcend time and space, cultural values & practices, and social boundaries.
Transform: Mezirow and his theories informed me of the importance of emancipatory educational experience that is predicated upon a deep sense of reflection and reflexivity.
Transgress: hooks and her works inspired me to think out of the box and be creative when imagining teaching and learning for breaking free to existing hedgemony and instricate power structures.
My educational philosophy has been informed by Bakhtin, Bourdieu, Malaguzzi, Vygotsky, Freire, Mezirow, Fairclough, and Hymes. The contemporary scholars who influenced my works include Kumashiro, Richardson, Milner, Heath, Geertz, Gumperz, Street, Gee, Ladson-Billings, hooks, Kress, Nieto, Bloome, and Hirvela.
