The Computer Interface
The interface of a computer is what you see on the screen and how you use it.
Desktop: The main screen you see when you turn on the computer. It’s like a desk where you can keep things you use often.
Icons: Small pictures that you click on to open files, apps, and programs
Taskbar/Dock: Bottom bar that holds apps
Menus: A menu is a list of choices or options you can click to do different things on the computer.
Windows: Boxes that open when you use an app or program. You can close, open, or move these boxes.
Cursor – A small arrow on the screen that moves when you move the mouse or trackpad. Use it to select or click on things.

The Smartphone Interface
The interface of a smartphone is what you see on the screen.
Home Screen: What you see when you turn the phone on.
Apps: Small pictures on a screen that open apps. Example: Camera app to take pictures
Dock: The row of apps at the bottom of your screen.
Notification bar: A small window that appears at the top of your screen that shows battery, wireless connection, and messages
Home Button: Most phones do not have a home button anymore. If they do, it is in the center on the bottom and it takes you back to your home page.
Control Buttons: Located on either side of the phone. They control volume, turn the phone on and off, and perform a variety of tasks.
