Hello and welcome to my website! I practice and study online learning and instruction, and I've organized some resources here to help teachers of all types use commonly available technology like PowerPoint, Google Forms, and Youtube to create online multimedia lessons. The first section of the website has a number of online modules that I created to both demonstrate and teach you how to create modules of your own. The next section has links to examples of my online courses, and the last section has links to the main resources that I used to develop my teaching style.
I've created all of these resources on my own with no budget, so I apologize that my materials look a bit amateurish. That being said, everything I create is built on principles derived from cognitive, educational, and organizational psychology. This website isn't just some random guy's tips for making online materials--everything I do is based on our most up-to-date scientific understanding of learning and instruction.
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or just want to chat! My email address is profthomascavanagh@gmail.com.
MODULES FOR CREATING ONLINE MODULES
Here I've collected the online resources I've created for creating online resources. I describe how to choose assignments to act as frameworks for your courses, how to create materials around those assignments, and how to deliver those materials online.
I've applied my teaching approach to three courses: leadership, business statistics, and executive business communication. You can access the course websites and all the materials in this section to see examples of how to apply online learning principles in real-world educational scenarios.
I'd like to claim I thought up all this online learning stuff on my own, but I didn't. Most of what I do was inspired by other great minds. Here you can find the resources (philosophical, theoretical, and applied) that helped me develop my teaching style.
