Kashmir has extraordinary potential — curious, bright learners, dedicated teachers, and caring families. What’s missing is consistent, locally adapted support systems.
Last winter, a bright 10-year-old in Srinagar named Ayaan kept losing his place while reading Arabic texts and couldn't make it through Math word problems without forgetting crucial details. His teacher called him “lazy.” His parents thought he was distracted. What they didn’t know was that Ayaan learned differently — he needed structure, different teaching strategies, and patient practice. After three months of targeted, one-to-one support and a family plan, Ayaan’s confidence rose, his reading improved, Maths became enjoyable and school stopped feeling like failure.
Stories like Ayaan’s are not rare in Kashmir. They are simply stories without a system behind them. The Learning Bridge exists to turn those stories into consistent progress for children, families, and schools.
India has made formal commitments to inclusive education and to expanding supports for Children with Special Needs (CWSN). As per UDISE+ (2021–22), about 22.67 lakh children with special needs were enrolled in schools (pre-primary to Class XII), representing approximately 0.89% of total enrolment — a sign of rising identification and enrollment, but also of the scale of unmet needs. Samagra Shiksha and the Government’s inclusive education initiatives continue to prioritize coverage and resource allocation for CWSN, aiming for a continuum of support across school years. Legally, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016 expanded protections and recognized a broader set of disabilities — a policy environment that supports inclusive school systems and the rights of learners to reasonable accommodations.
These national commitments create an opening for local partners to work with schools and authorities to translate policy into practice — something The Learning Bridge is ready to do. The Learning Bridge offers Kashmir that missing link: professional, compassionate, and practical help that honours culture and faith while delivering results.
