A Book Kit blends the use of a book with primary sources to support students':

• skill development of critical thinking and inquiry;

• understanding of an event, place, and people in a specific time period;

• skill development across disciplines; and

• ability to engage and connect to their own learning.

A primary source is an original source created in a specific time and place being studied, such as a photograph, journal entry, or drawing.

Each Book Kit includes a:

• Book title

• Big Idea Question

• Primary source(s) with a graphic organizer

• Simple hands-on activity to help students connect to their own learning

• Reading level of book and suggested grade levels for activities; activities can be modified to meet learners' needs.
