Experience
I have professional experience teaching Spanish to both native and non-native English speakers.
My academic work focused on a combination of linguistics and Hispanic geography and culture (Spain, Latin America, the Caribbean).
I have spent extended time in over 8 Spanish-speaking countries, including studying in Mexico for a year, and living and working in Colombia for three months. These expereiences have hugely influenced my worldview and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone.
Put quite simply, it depends! I will always consider the ability and needs of my students when planning my lessons.
I originally learned Spanish as a second language myself, so I understand the challenges students face, and the strategies that make learning easier.
My lessons can focus on:
conversation and confidence
grammar explained clearly
exam preparation
vocabulary building
cultural understanding
