About Me

Elise, the Leaf Pile Artist
leafpileart@gmail.com

I grew up in a very rural area of Illinois. I graduated from Indiana State University in 2011 with my BS in Studio Art. I work full time outside of my artwork. I've been an artist for over a decade. My miniature art has been a focus since 2017. My work has been featured in gallery shows locally and across the US, including awards in various juried exhibitions.

My creative process gives me many things: focus on finding words for a blackout poem, to the escapism of bottle cap sculptures, and soothing brush strokes and color blending in painting.

Extreme storms are meaningful and inspiring to me, including the dangerous aspects. I find the atmospheric color contrasts in nature beautiful. Blackout poetry also provides insight that I can't always find on my own.  Art has been a way to learn about myself and cope with the world around me.
