Dread Mode is a new challenging experience that makes monsters tougher without simply pumping up their stats. Are you worthy?
Please note that Dread Mode is an incomplete feature, and changes will be made in future updates that may make it harder or easier than it currently is.
Singleplayer: Cheats must be enabled to activate Dread Mode. You can temporarily enable cheats in a world where they are disabled by pausing the game, selecting Open to LAN, setting Allow Commands to ON, and then clicking Start LAN World. Run this command: "/function valiance:dread_mode/true" If you had to open to LAN to allow commands, restart the world and begin.
Multiplayer: For server owners, open server terminal and run "function valiance:dread_mode/true"
There are a lot of changes made in Dread Mode so it is easier to just make one big list than go into detail on each feature.
Zombies and Skeletons will frequently spawn with full gold, iron, and diamond armor, with one piece being trimmed with Netherite. These mobs will also have a high chance of spawning with any craftable melee weapon.
These mobs will never drop their armor, but will drop experience bottles
Wither Skeletons will only spawn rarely with Netherite armor trimmed with gold, which have a higher chance of dropping their skull and a small chance of dropping a Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template
Spiders may place multiple webs when webbing, and are immune to fall damage
Cave Spiders may spawn naturally in caves
Endermen are notably faster
Drowned may spawn on land during rain
During thunder storms, they also have a higher chance of spawning with a Trident, which may have the Channeling Enchantment
Charged Creepers will occasionally spawn on their own during thunder storms
