Temple Beth Sholom was founded in 1952 in Ishpeming, Michigan when the city was a business center for the county. Over the years, the population has shifted to Marquette and thus, TBS moved too. Services started at the new location in January 2018 and occur monthly.
Throughout the year, we work as volunteers with the help of a student rabbi from HUC-JIR in Cincinnati to provide a variety of learning, social, religious opportunities. Services are held monthly on Friday evenings Torah Study on Saturday morning and youth education on Sunday of rabbi weekends.
Marquette is a diverse community and home to many folks who have moved from around the country and other countries. We open our doors to individuals who have grown up Jewish, chosen to be Jewish, are part of an interfaith family, or are seeking more information or an attachment to Judaism. We have members of all ages and there is a distinct family atmosphere for those who participate.
