LDA CT's Involvement in the Community

LDA CT is proud to support and sponsor Juliette Savarino on her participation in representing her hometown of Westport in the Miss Connecticut Teen USA Pageant. Juliette has chosen a platform based supporting fellow students and children with learning disabilities and is an active advocate for finding ways to offer support and bring awareness to the strengths as well as difficulties for students with learning disabilities. Due to her platform and advocacy for children with learning disabilities, LDA CT has recognized Juliette as a Student Ambassador for LDA CT.

LDA CT made it in the Op-Ed section of the CT Mirror advocating for the removal of PFAS chemicals in food packaging containers and many other items we use everyday. The harmful impacts on children is of grave concern and can have lasting effects on their development and can lead to neurological impairments. Great to see the CT legislature moving to ban these harmful chemicals statewide! See below for the link to the Op-Ed piece.

Turning off the tap on toxic PFASMany people know that learning, attention and developmental disabilities can be passed from parent to child, but did you know that chemical exposures also contribute to over 25% of these disabilities ? This means one in every 200 U.S. children suffer from developmental or neurological deficits linked to harmful chemicals . The good news is that these causes are preventable.
