2021-2022: Rebel

Game: Freight Frenzy

MS State Champions: 2nd Place

State Championship Awards: Think Award Winner

Tournament Awards: Think Award Winner

About Rebel:

The name says it all: Rebel's got quite the attitude! When he's not loading up the top tier of the shipping hub, he enjoys fun pastimes such as collecting stickers, recording videos on someone's phone, grabbing people's kneecaps, and terrorizing the local dog population. Even though he can be a bit tough to deal with sometimes, he's still a hard worker and is sure to make you proud on the playing field (if he feels like it)!

Rebel is built on an AndyMark TileRiser chassis. Each one of his mecanum wheels is powered by a motor with a 40:1 gear ratio. He uses his arm to pick up and score freight. The claw part is powered by a servo connected to a worm drive, allowing it to open and close. The claw's grips are pieces of a recycled pet hair broom. In order to deliver ducks to the playing field, he uses the seemingly universal design of compliant wheels on a motor. However, he is much too large to fit in the area with the back shipping hub, earning him affectionate nicknames such as "Big boy" or "Chonky".

2020-2021: Nova

Game: Ultimate Goal

MS State Champions: 4th Place

State Championship Awards: MS State Think Award 1st runner-up

Tournament Awards: Think Award and Collins Innovate Award 1st Runner up

About Nova:

she's a material girl Nova is a loud, proud, point-scoring machine! She's a sassy diva with an eye for style; the only thing bigger than her makeup pallette is her appetite! She prides herself in her ability to drown out the competition in both noise and score!

Nova is built on an AndyMark TileRunner chassis. Each one of her mecanum wheels is powered by a motor with a 20:1 gear ratio. Her intake system is designed to fold out at the start of each match and has 2 rollers powered by 1 motor. The delivery mechanism uses marine-grade sealant treads to provide more grip on each ring brought into the hopper. The rings are launched out of the hopper by a servo that pushes each ring into a constantly spinning compliant wheel. Nova's "wobble goal claw", much like Rebel's claw, is powered by a servo into a worm drive. One of her signature features is the fact that many of her mechanisms are made of found objects due to supply shortages because of the pandemic. Some examples include the bases of her launcher and delivery system (kitchen cutting board and corrugated plastic, respectively), the claw grips (rubberized tape), and her eyes (Halloween decoration) that help the drivers determine the front from the back, while also making her look rather stylish!
