Week 1 (ending September 5th)

Library: Welcome to a new school year! It was wonderful meeting with your kids this week and chatting about our favorite book characters. Next week we will be reading Luna Loves Library Day and will participate in a few movement songs!

Music: Welcome to Preschool Music! It was a joy to meet your children at Orientation this week. I look forward to having class with them! For our first Music class, we will be finding our seats, learning the rules in Music class, and moving through shared space by walking, galloping, jumping, tip-toeing, and running.

Spanish:   Hola! Bienvenidos! It was great to meet everyone this week.  We will start our school year working on routines and our morning son “Buenos dias”. We learned about colors this week (rojo, azul, verde). We will continue to review these colors and start learning numbers 1-5.

PE: Welcome everyone. It’s going to be a fun year in PE. We will start the year with learning some safety rules as well as throwing small objects with one hand and catching with two.

SEL: Hi families! We’re Tiffani Brown, the school counselor, and Lauren Spring, the counseling intern. We’ll be visiting classrooms every other month to teach social-emotional skills like understanding feelings, making friends, and solving problems. Updates from SEL won’t be weekly, but we’ll share highlights ahead of each visit. We’re excited to support your kiddos in growing confidence, kindness, and a sense of belonging!

Week 2 (ending September 12th)

Library: Next week we will be reading Tiptoe Joe by Ginger Foglesong Gibson and will participate in a few movement songs!

Music: Next week we will be bending, stretching, and walking through shared space. We will also be distinguishing between big and little and up and down. 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will learn about numbers and keep practicing colors: rojo, azul, verde. 

PE: We will continue with our hand/eye coordination unit and will add some body movement and balancing skills.

Week 3 (ending September 19th)

Library: Next week we will be reading The Scarecrow by Beth Ferry, coloring a scarecrow, and will participate in a few movement songs!

Music: Next week we will be walking, galloping, running, and jumping through shared space. We will also be learning the songs “Autumn Leaves” and “I’m a Little Scarecrow.”

Spanish:   Hola! Next week I won’t see my friends due to a field trip.

PE: As last week, we have more to learn with our hand/eye coordination and movement and balancing skills.

Week 4 (ending September 26th)

Library: Next week we will be reading Duck and Goose Find a Pumpkin by Tad Hills and will have an activity to go along with our book!

Music: Next week we will be walking, galloping, and running through shared space and singing songs about scarecrows and leaves. 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will read the book “El Monstruo de Colores” (The Color Monster) and learn about feelings. 

PE: Next week we will move into our soccer unit starting with passing with the inside of the foot.

Week 5 (ending October 3rd)

Library: Next week we will be reading Who Can Boo the Loudest? by Harriet Ziefert and will have an activity to go along with our book!

Music: Next week we will be reading “The Itsy Bitsy Pumpkin” and learning the song. We will also be learning different songs about pumpkins. 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will continue learning about feelings and will work on a fun puppet related to The Color Monster book.

STEM: Hi everyone! It’s Mrs. Reeves, and I am the PS-K STEM Teacher! This week, we read Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert, explored the differences between bulbs and seeds, investigated flower bulbs more closely, and planted our very own rainbow of flower bulbs in the Preschool Garden! PE: With the weather cooling down, we will be heading out onto the cross country course next week. Please be sure to prepare accordingly with correct footwear (tennis shoes, sneakers) and bug spray if you feel it necessary.

Week 6 (ending October 10th)

Library: Next week we will be reading Wee Witches Halloween by Jerry Smath and will have an activity to go along with our book!

Music: I will not be seeing your children next week due to the fall break. Have a wonderful long weekend.

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will finish and play with the puppets we started to create this week.

PE: We will miss PE next week for the fall break. Have fun!

Week 7 (ending October 17th)

Library: Next week we will read Peppa's Halloween Party and complete a coloring activity to go along with it!

Music: Next week we will be reading “Five Little Pumpkins” and learning the song. We will also be learning different songs about pumpkins. Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will start our unit on farm animals.

PE: Next week we will be out on the cross country course again in preparation for our annual fun run that we hope to hold on 9/27/25 starting at 9:00am. Please look out for more information on this event, with parents more than welcome to run with their little ones.

Week 8 (ending October 24th)

Library: Next week we will read Trick-or-Treat, Baby Shark and complete a coloring activity to go along with it!

Music: Next week we will be singing Halloween songs and playing Halloween games. 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will read and do an activity related to “Día de las brujas” (Halloween).

PE: Next Monday we will have our annual fun run out on the cross country course. The one mile course starts across the road from the main gym on the grass at 9:00am. Students should wear their blue fun run T-shirts. Parents are encouraged to attend and run with their children.

Week 9 (ending October 31st)

Library: Next week we will listen to The Very Stuffed Turkey by Katharine Kenah and complete a cut-apart puzzle!

Music: Next week we will begin learning our songs for the Winter Program. Ask your child to sing “Jingle Bells” for you! 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will go back to learning about farm animals. 

PE: We will restart our soccer unit next week, with some basic skills and rules.

Week 10 (ending November 7th)

Library: Next week we will revisit a fun, if not grumpy, character, Bruce, when we read Thanks for Nothing by Ryan T. Higgins and the children will then play a memory match game!

Music: I will not see your children next week due to our Veterans Day Celebration.

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will learn about pets.

PE: I will not see the children this Monday as they are on a field trip.

Week 11 (ending November 14th)

Library: Next week we will be discussing our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair (Dec. 1 - Dec. 5) and will be watching book trailers to get us excited for some of the books that will be at the fair! You can check out our fair at this link! Be sure to create an eWallet if you so desire!

Music: Next week we will be practicing our songs for the Winter Program. Ask your child to sing “I Have a Little Snowman” for you!

Spanish:  Hola! Next week we will continue learning about pets (mascotas).  

PE: We will restart our soccer unit next week, with some basic skills and rules.

Week 12 (ending November 21st)

Library: After Thanksgiving break, we will have our Scholastic Book Fair (Dec. 1 - Dec. 5)! You can check out our fair at this link! Happy Thanksgiving!

Music: When we return from Thanksgiving break, we will have our first rehearsal on stage in preparation for our Winter Program. Happy Thanksgiving! 

PE: When we come back we will continue with our soccer unit.

Week 13 (ending December 5th)

Library: Thank you all so much for your support in our Scholastic Book Fair! The kids (and I) always enjoy it so much! While emphasizing an underlying theme of tolerance of all beliefs and others' family traditions during the holiday season, next week we will read Hanukkah Pajamakkahs by Dara Henry.

Music: Next week we will be having our rehearsals on the stage in preparation for our Winter Program. 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will be learning vocabulary related to transportation.

PE: Soccer is still our focus until winter break.

Week 14 (ending December 12th)

Library: While emphasizing an underlying theme of tolerance of all beliefs and others' family traditions during the holiday season, next week we will read The Great Big Christmas Tree Hunt and will get to decorate felt Christmas tree bookmarks!

Music: Our Winter Concert is Monday, December 15th at 5:30 PM. Call time is 5:15 PM in the MPR. Concert Attire is nice holiday attire, no sweatshirts, sweatpants, jeans. I look forward to a wonderful concert! 

PE: We will remain in soccer with a focus on positions

Week 15 (ending December 19th)

Library: Happy Holidays! When we return from break we will be reading Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you hear? by Bill Martin and will do a sorting activity to go along with the story!

Music: When we return from  break, we will be learning songs about snow, snowflakes, and all things winter! Have a wonderful winter break and Happy Holidays! 

PE: On our return to school, we will start our gymnastics unit. Please ensure your child has shoes that can easily be removed and put back on and girls, if wearing a skirt or dress, have leggings or shorts underneath. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Week 16 (ending January 9th)

Library: Next week we will be reading Flakey the Naked Snowman by Amy Tubman and will design our own snowmen!

Music: Next week we will continue to learn songs about snow, snowflakes, and all things winter! 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will continue learning about family.

PE: We will continue with gymnastics looking at rolling and balancing.

Library: Next week we will be reading Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin and sort tacos by size!

Music: Next week we will learn songs about peace, caring, and Martin Luther King Jr. 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will learn about parts of the house and build houses with magnetiles.

PE: Sorry we will miss PE on Monday due to School holiday

Library: Next week we will be reading the sequel to our last book Dragons Love Tacos 2 by Adam Rubin and will complete a color-by-number!

Music: Next week we will be learning the song and story of “The Five Little Snowmen.” We will also be moving through shared space while walking, galloping, and jogging. 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will learn about “formas geométricas” (geometric forms).

PE: We have completed our gymnastics unit and will start on basketball next week.

Week 19 (ending January 30th)

Library: Next week we will be reading the sequel to our last book Dragons Love Tacos 2 by Adam Rubin and will complete a color-by-number!

Music: Next week we will be learning songs about friendship, caring, hearts, and love. 

Spanish:   Hola! Due to the snow we didn’t have Spanish this week, so next week we will start our unit on geometric shapes. 

PE: As mentioned last week, we will begin our unit on basketball, starting with dribbling.

Week 20 (ending February 6th)

Library: Next week we will be reading The Day it Rained Hearts by Felecia Bond and will do a matching activity.

Music: Next week we will be reading “Do Your Ears Hang Low” by Caroline Jayne Church and learning the song. We will also sing songs about friendship, caring, and hearts. 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will continue to learn about shapes introducing students to the shape “corazón” (heart).

PE: We need to continue with our dribbling skill next week!

Library: Next week we will be reading A Sick Day for Amos McGee by Philip C. Stead and will do an animal drawing activity.

Music: I will not be seeing your children next week due to our mid-winter break. I hope you have a wonderful long weekend!

Week 22 (ending February 20th)

Library: Next week we will be reading about a squirrel's first experience with snow in The Snow Thief by Alice Hemming.

Music: Next week we will be reading “The Bear Went Over the Mountain” by Iza Trapani, learning the traditional song, and creating movements to act it out. 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will start our unit on fruits reading “La Oruga Hambrienta” (The Very Hungry Caterpillar)

PE: In PE we will focus on moving off the ball and small sided games

Week 23 (ending February 27th)

Library: Next week we will be reading The Wide Mouthed Frog by Keith Faulkner and will be making a foldable frog craft!

Music: Next week we will be moving through shared space with walking, galloping, jogging, and jumping. Also, the children will be introduced to their songs for the Spring Program. 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will continue learning about “las frutas” (fruits)

PE: If we get to have a lesson we will practice moving into space.

Library: Next week we will be reading Old MacDonald Had a Woodshop by Lisa Shulman and will be creating a barn craft!

Music: Next week we will begin learning our songs for the Spring Programs. Ask your child what the theme of their program is! 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will start learning  “grande” (big), “pequeño” (small), “abre” (open), “ciera” (close), “por favor” (please) and “gracias” (thank you).

PE: No PE this week

Library: Next week we will be reading Spring is Here by Will Hillenbrand and will be talking about all of the things we would like to do in the spring!

Music: Next week we will be practicing our songs for the Spring Programs. Ask your child to sing “Spring Is Here” for you! 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will continue to review  “grande” (big), “pequeño” (small), “abre” (open), “cierra” (close), “por favor” (please) and “gracias” (thank you).

PE: We will start working on learning how to pass a ball and move.

Library: Next week we will read Duck, Duck, Dinosaur by Kallie George to talk more about spring!

Music: Next Wednesday, March 25th, is our field trip to Reflections~ A Senior Living Community! Please have your child wear nice spring attire. If you have not let us know if you are planning to chaperone, please let us know as soon as possible. I look forward to a fun field trip! 

Spanish:   Hola! Next week we will play a game using a handprint craft we did this week that says “hola” and “adiós”. 

PE: We will continue to practice passing and moving off the ball

Library: When we return from break we will be playing animal charades and reading If You Were a Dog by James Swenson. Have a wonderful spring break!

Music: When we return from break, we will continue to practice our songs for the Spring Programs. I hope you have a fabulous spring break! 

Spanish: Hola! We will start learning about animals when we come back from the break. Have a wonderful spring break!  

PE: We will be outside mostly when we come back, playing a variety of team games. Have a wonderful spring break.
