Most of the jobs that pay a livable wage in Alabama require some kind of post-secondary credential. Yet nearly half of Alabama’s public high school seniors are not pursuing any kind of post-secondary education after graduation.
Thrive is dedicated to making life better in Alabama. Our program provides student-centered, one-to-one mentorship that breaks down barriers to success, promotes resilience and ensures that students not only persist in their educational journey but emerge as confident, skilled and prepared to contribute meaningfully to Alabama communities and strengthen the Alabama workforce.
Thrive Guides serve students in three ways:
1. Connect them to valuable resources
2. Prompt them to meet milestones and deadlines
3. Encourage them to persevere when things are difficult
Promise Guides support students through making education choices and majors aligned with their long term career goals
Promise Guides direct students to appropriate resources for enrollment, FAFSA, scholarships, and campus questions
Promise Guides are expected to communicate consistently with students every 2 weeks and follow-up
Promise Guides are expected to update the Mentor Collective dashboard with student progress and concerns
S2S Guides communicate with students every 2 weeks. They provide the following:
