My name is Layla Horn, and I am a future educator! I am currently certified in Elementary Education as I work towards finishing my Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Early Childhood Education at Hannibal-LaGrange University. I am on track to complete my degree in December 2024; however, I am seeking a Teacher of Record position to begin in the Fall of 24'. Throughout my practicums, observations, subbing, and time in the classroom, I have had the experience of working with students at all grades and developmental levels.
I am originally from Columbia, MO, where I graduated from Christian Fellowship School in 2021. I moved to Hannibal to attend school, and while in school, I competed in both varsity volleyball and track & field. I have been a Residential Advisor on campus as well as a Student Ambassador. Some other activities I was involved in were a women's group and a core Bible study group.
For as long as I can remember, teaching has been my passion. As a teacher, specifically of elementary students, my goal is to be able to say I have made an impact on their lives and gave them a strong foundation of education to grow upon. My teachers throughout my entire education were always supportive of me and my dreams and cared more about me as a person than as someone they had to educate. I hope to implement that same feeling in my classroom so that my students can feel loved and known.
As a teacher, my goal is not only to educate students but meet them where they are at, and create a space to allow them to grow into their own people. I hope to inspire my class and encourage them daily. Our classroom will be a positive environment where everyone is welcome and shown love immediately. In my future classroom, I desire to be an engaging teacher, a good classroom manager, and to love all of my students well. My hope is that my students not only leave my classroom smarter and more knowledgable but better people to make the world a better place.
