I created this themed lesson because it focused on formulating the end /t/ sound. The criteria for the assignment was to create a lesson on any end sounds.
The first slide lets the students know what we're working on for the day
The second slide is a great warm up activity that stimulates the whole body. Getting the body to move across the mid section stimulates both the left and right brain.
The third slide reads aloud the story 'Splat the Cat'. I want the students to first hear the words, then we'll read the story together and then focus on the words that are in our /t/ articulation.
The fourth slide is saying the word, writing the word, saying the word.
The fifth slide is "goodbyes" I'd like to end my sessions with a closure and recap of what we discussed in the lesson.
Reflection
I got encouraging feedback from my professor, he said, "my lesson flowed well, followed the criteria and it was a great way to get participation with the themed lesson".
I was worried about creating a lesson for speech specifically because I was used to creating lesson plans for different subjects, not just one area.
It was refreshing to know that in my future career I'll be able t create a more condensed version of what I already know.
