This GDPR Notice explains your rights under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and how they apply when you use the Europa RP Launcher (the "Launcher"). It applies to the Launcher application only and should be read together with our Privacy Policy. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, this notice applies to you.
1. DATA CONTROLLER
The data controller for the Launcher is the Europa RolePlay team ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us about any data matter on Discord: https://discord.gg/europa-roleplay
2. WHAT DATA WE PROCESS
Most data the Launcher uses stays on your own device. The limited personal data involved when you use the Launcher includes your in-game nickname (stored locally and passed to the game client when you launch), your IP address and standard connection details (visible to our servers and content hosts when the Launcher downloads updates, files, or news, or checks server status), technical and diagnostic data such as local log files stored on your device, and Discord activity data only if you use Discord Rich Presence. The Launcher does not require you to create an account with us and does not upload your settings, files, or personal documents to us as part of normal use. Because we do not collect user accounts, hardware IDs (HWID), or other persistent identifiers, we are not able to link a given IP address or connection back to a specific individual.
3. LEGAL BASES FOR PROCESSING (ARTICLE 6 GDPR)
- Performance of a contract / your request (Art. 6(1)(b)): to install, update, and start the software and connect you to the server at your request;
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): to keep the Launcher secure and working, deliver updates, prevent abuse, and diagnose errors;
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): where you choose to enable optional features such as Discord Rich Presence, which you may withdraw at any time;
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): where we must process data to comply with the law.
4. HOW LONG WE KEEP DATA
Data stored locally on your device (settings, game files, logs) remains until you delete it or uninstall the Launcher. Any technical request data handled by our servers or content hosts is kept only as long as necessary for the purposes above, or as required by law.
5. WHO WE SHARE DATA WITH
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with our hosting/update provider and public content hosts used to deliver updates, files, and news; with Discord, if you use Rich Presence; and with authorities or third parties where required by law. Some providers may process data outside the EEA/UK, and where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision) to protect your data.
6. YOUR RIGHTS UNDER GDPR
Subject to the conditions in the GDPR, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data, to erasure ("right to be forgotten"), to restriction of processing, to data portability, to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal. Because most Launcher data lives only on your own device, you can exercise many of these rights directly by changing your settings, deleting local files, or uninstalling the Launcher. For anything we hold, contact us on Discord and we will respond within one month, which may be extended by up to two further months where the request is complex or numerous, in which case we will let you know within the first month, as permitted by the GDPR.
7. AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING
We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
8. RIGHT TO COMPLAIN
If you believe we have not handled your personal data lawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the EEA, your national Data Protection Authority; in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first, so please consider contacting us before you do.
9. CHANGES TO THIS NOTICE
We may update this GDPR Notice from time to time. Material changes will be shown by updating the "Last Updated" date above.
