Mechanism

Recombinant human PTH (1-34), identical to the 34 N-terminal amino acids of the 84 amino acid human PTH

Indications

• Postmenopausal women with severe osteoporosis who are at high risk of fracture.
• Men with primary or hypogonadal severe osteoporosis.
• Osteoporosis associated with sustained systemic glucocorticoid therapy.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity
• Hypercalcemia
• Severe renal impairment
• Metabolic bone diseases other than primary osteoporosis
• Unexplained elevations of ALP
• Prior external beam or implant radiation therapy involving the skeleton
• Bone metastases or history of skeletal malignancies
• Pregnancy and nursing mothers
• Pediatric patients or young adults with open epiphysis
