By the end of this lesson you will be able to know what a zoning law is and what it means for this project.
By the end of this lesson you will be ready to begin your blueprinting.
A zoning law determines the maximum size and height of a building in a neighborhood. Zoning laws are put in place in nearly every city to protect the community.
Part of the planning of your neighborhood with be making sure that the building you plan on making is within the maximum area and floors that is explained above. If you do not follow the law, you may have to start all over.
If you feel that there is a building that your neighborhood needs but is not included in the zoning laws above you will need to complete the form Changing Zoning Laws. In this form you will need to answer every question and click on the submit button at the bottom. A teacher will then decide if the building will be allowed.
You will be recording these phases in your Design Book.
Phase 1:
The first phase of the planning process is brainstorming. As a group you will brainstorm what are the needs of your neighborhood based on your neighborhoods' scenario and what you think a neighborhood usually needs.
Phase 2:
Then as a group you will begin creating a plan for who will make each building. Starting with the most important buildings first.
Phase 3:
Review the zoning laws and give explanations on why your neighborhood needs this building and the size you plan to make it (the total area your building will use and floors).
Phase 4:
