To advocate and support Louisiana social studies educators with leadership and ongoing professional development to maintain innovative and rigorous content learning experiences in the classroom.

Objectives of the Organization:
To provide professional development opportunities for social studies educators.
To promote innovative teaching strategies and resources.
To encourage the study of Louisiana’s rich history and diverse cultures.
To facilitate collaboration and networking among educators and community stakeholders.
To advocate for high-quality social studies education in Louisiana schools.
To provide leadership in Louisiana by:
(1). Engaging and supporting teachers in strengthening and advocating social studies.
(2). Promoting the continuous improvement of teaching and learning of the social studies.
(3). Promoting the professional growth of social studies teachers.
(4). Encouraging research in the social studies.
To promote the organization of and the cooperation with other Councils for the Social Studies.
To cooperate and work with the National Council for Social Studies in matters of common interest.
