Theme: Our Lasallian Past

The first working day of our Symposium will begin with looking at the aims of the Symposium, and what we would like to achieve from our time together.

We will then learn about the contribution of women to the Lasallian mission, from its beginnings through to the present day (keynote address). Women have always, and remain, an important part of the Lasallian story.

We will respond to the keynote by sharing our own journeys and experiences of the mission as Lasallian women. We continue to write the Lasallian story in our different workplaces and different roles.

In the afternoon, a variety of women from our group will run interactive mini workshops. You will be able to sign up for one or more of these as either a presenter or group member. We will be challenged to think about some of the needs in today’s world that call to us, as Lasallians.

Every day will allow time for prayer, quiet reflection, sacred space, conversation and community.

Tuesday, July 18

Theme: Our Lasallian Present

Today will focus on our Symposium theme of women as change makers.

We will begin by looking at the part that women play globally through their different roles- e.g. mother, educator, employee, community member- in creating social change.

We will also hear some stories of some of our Lasallian women, who have created significant change in their own part of the world.

We will spend time discussing, sharing and synthesising our particular experiences of being women in the Lasallian mission.

The afternoon will conclude with a cultural visit to the world renowned Auckland museum, including a Maori cultural show.

Every day will allow time for prayer, quiet reflection, sacred space, conversation and community.

Wednesday, July 19

Theme: Our Lasallian future

This day’s work will be about forming resolutions for future action based on the Symposium aims.

We will conclude with a closing ritual and group photo- until we meet again.
