Theater classes are a great way to introduce yourself to the basics of theater without committing to time after school for a production (excluding the final project). They are also a great way to get you comfortable with performance or tech before joining an ACP show. The introductory Theater Arts I and Tech Theater I classes are just that: introductory. You learn the basics of performing or tech and build your way up to more complicated tasks.
Once you have completed the first level of classes, you can move into the varsity acting and tech classes, which include students from levels II, III, and IV. Varsity acting is production-focused, meaning that you spend the vast majority of your time rehearsing and preparing a variety of complete plays with the intention of public performance. Varsity tech is project-focused, which involves selecting a particular technical specialization and working to create a design project portfolio using that specialization. Students enrolled in varsity classes are also open to UIL auditions.
