The Alley Cat Players believe that all students benefit from participation in the arts.
In particular, theatrical productions provide extraordinary opportunities for students to grow, learn, develop, and express themselves. A successful play is never a solo project; it requires a team, and that team needs to be able to work across a variety of disciplines, from acting, singing, and dancing to lighting, carpentry, and costuming to everything else that goes into a piece of stagecraft.
The wide-ranging and collaborative nature of theatre means there is room for everyone who wants to be a part of it to find a home in our theatrical company.
Provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for students
Foster a sense of community in which all students recognize that they are valued parts of a production and that they are all working toward the same goal
Empower individual students to make artistic and technical choices that help to shape the show; promote conversation and seek consensus when there is friction between competing artistic visions
Incorporate the work of theater into the broader life of the campus through ongoing outreach, publicity, and promotion
Stage productions that students are proud to have been part of, and on which they will look back fondly
