Week 6's presentation was on
Major theories of learning and teaching of basic school mathematics in inclusive classrooms
c)Constructivism
REFLECTIONS
I learned that constructivism is a learning theory where students build their own understanding based on experiences rather than just memorizing facts. I now understand that in mathematics, learning should be interactive, and students should explore concepts rather than just follow procedures, this in a way would course the students to think critically.
TAKEAWAYS FOR WEEK 6
So as a teacher instead of simply delivering information, I will rather guide the students in constructing their own understanding of mathematical concepts by encouraging exploration, discussion, and questioning is essential for deeper learning.
I would provide multiple ways for students to engage with content, such as group work, peer teaching, manipulatives, and technology-based tools.
