“Flexibility and responsiveness” refer to a teacher’s skill in making adjustments in a lesson to respond to changing conditions. When a lesson is well planned, there may be no need for changes during the course of the lesson itself. Shifting the approach in midstream is not always necessary; in fact, with experience comes skill in accurately predicting how a lesson will go and being prepared for different possible scenarios. But even the most skilled, and best prepared, teachers will occasionally find either that a lesson is not proceeding as they would like or that a teachable moment has presented itself. They are ready for such situations. Furthermore, teachers who are committed to the learning of all students persist in their attempts to engage them in learning, even when confronted with initial setbacks.

Applied Reading 4: This artifact shows my ability to demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness by describing what I did during my lessons to give precise praise. I describe different skills I learned about and how I implemented them in my classroom. I reflected on how the experience went and what changes I could do in the following week. I wrote about challenges that came with implementing the skill and what I did to confront them during my lessons.
Case Study Lesson Plan: This Case Study shows my ability to be flexible and responsive through my willingness to make adjustments to feedback from my peers. For my lesson plan my peers provided helpful advice that would help my students get the most out of their learning experiences. In my lesson plan it shows the feedback I was given and how I implemented it into my lesson plan. This demonstrated my flexibility to feedback and willingness to change my lesson plan to benefit my students.
