Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be the opposite gender? If a man became a woman in the working world, would that man get the same equal pay by being a woman? John Doe is a man working in the corporate world, working the clock like his coworkers. As a kid John was raised to know that men make the income of the household, and woman stay home and represent the family. His father was a corporate man working every day to provide for his family, and his mother to make the meals and clean the house. John believes that woman are supposed to stay in the house and be the perfect house wife. He also believes that he deserves to be promoted as the new supervisor of the department. He works twice as much as anyone. Little does he know that a certain Jane Doe works just as much as he does and deserves that position just as much.
Jane Doe has been working for the company way longer than John has. When the day comes to picking a new supervisor, Jane gets disappointed because John had just got promoted to being the new supervisor. When confronting her old supervisor, she was told “ Men don’t listen to women, and when they do its only for one thing”. She took that to heart and she told her old supervisor that she will prove it to him that she will be a great leader. Seeing how determined she was her old supervisor made a deal with her and told her that she had two weeks to prepare why she should be the new supervisor. Two weeks passed and he was so surprised with how much effort she put into her presentation that he promoted her and not John. Her old supervisor gave her less pay then what John had orignally been given. She didn’t think that was fair and so she brought it up to debate: “ Sir, to all do respect, if you were in my position as a female working a corporate job, and got promoted but then later finding out the pay isnt the same as any other man, how would you feel?”, his response was “ I understand were you are coming from and I do see how it would make you feel, but you have to understand that im the one who is making decisions and if you don’t want the position it can be revoked if you would like?”. She brought up the question again and his response was “ look Jane, you’re a phenomonial worker but you should understand that a woman like you will never get paid the same as a man because your to fragile and carry to much emotion to lead. You should be thankful that I gave you the position in the first place”. She rebutaled with “ how would you feel if your daughter came home crying her eyes out because her boss thinks she isnt able to lead a team because she has to much emotion or is to fragile?”, his response “ work harder and to have thicker skin, if my daughter wants to work in the corporate world she has to understand that”. Jane rebutalled by “ what if you were in my position and didn’t get equal pay?” his response “ I would work ten times harder to prove myself other than twice as hard on a regular day. I would push myself to lengths I never knew I could reach, but I’m a man I don’t need to push myself ten times more. All I have to do is do my regular work and get paid”. Jane wanted to prover herself even more so she made a deal with her old supervisor is that if he wasn’t satisfied with her work she would get demoted. So Jane did her research and found out that not only do corporate woman get paid less, but also athletes who are woman: WNBA, tennis players, soccer players, etc. it has been said that tennis players who are woman get paid the same but are taxed differently “a women's tennis tax,” which doesn’t make sense at all. Why would women only be taxed and not the men? Its good that tennis players get the same check but why would the women only get taxed? By the research that Jane saw was that it all depends on locations and ticket pricing. But still why only women…? That’s the major question, why do women only get taxed by the research conducted it had been said by players that they are used to the fact that they get taxed and not the men. There is no question about the fact who gets taxed, it’s always the women who do. The reason for that is because tennis for women isn’t watched like tennis for men. By conducting other research she also found that its normal for women to get paid less, because we are the weaker gender and we can’t control our emotions. It has been said by many doctors and such that women tend to emotionally choose what to do then logically choose the best solution.
After all the research that Jane had found she went back to her old supervisor and showed him the research. The good and the bad research was explained in detail. The fact that women use their emotions more than their minds is true, but statistically speaking the best decisions are made throughout their emotions. Other than using emotions, it also shows that women tend to understand situations more logically because they have been through situations more than men have. Coming to terms on deadlines or when a presentation is eye catching, women tend to look at the smallest details other than men do. Woman strive for perfection, while some men just throw it all together and call it a day. After showing all the research to her old supervisor, she asked him on his thoughts “ honestly, I didn’t know that only women get taxed if they professionally play tennis or in the WNBA. It doesn’t make sense to the fact that it’s the same sport that they are playing like the men. That shouldn’t happen, they should get paid the same, but sometimes depending on the place or the ticket pricing makes a huge difference. I see were your coming from Jane I get that you work the same amount as John but you also understand from my shoes. I’m a man who gets paid more than my department, I need to promote someone to replace me. Don’t get me wrong your work is phenomenal and if it were in my hands that I pay you more I wish I could. Its not up to me its up to the man above. I love the effort you went to explain to me in detail over this and for that I will talk to the man above about the pay raise for you.”. satisfied with her effort she shook his hand and said thank you. After a couple weeks she gets called into his office to talk more about the situation, he said “ after my conversation with the Boss, he was intrigued about what I said and wanted to hear from you personally”. Jane was surprised that it had gotten this far, so she accepted and held her head high and walked with her old supervisor to their Boss’s office. Jane gave it her all and she used emotion and logic to persuade him. Luck was in her favor because she got promoted to work as the head supervisor, so now she is in charge of her old supervisor and all her coworkers. She gets paid just like her new coworkers, all male and female.
