Over 2023, 2024, and 2025 I made various infographics using "Canva," "Genially," and "Flourish." I also made magazine spreads for the Highlander. Check them out!
I edited the opinion section for the last issue of the 2024-2025 and wrote the editorial for this issue. Many people set goals to improve themselves at the end of a school year. However, I wanted to write about how setting unrealistic goals can lead to regression of one's character.
For this spread, I was inspired by the stars on the sweater and wanted to add an extra element to the spread, which was adding little stars to the page on the left.
Once again, I edited for the community section. For this issue, I wanted to have many elements, like the pull quote, side bar, and a good feature photo.
For my first Highlander issue, I made this spread for the community section, which is focused on human interest. I originally wanted to have the text on the image as it looked visually appealing, but the text wasn't visible, so I made the image on the left and text side by side.
I made this infographic to visualize how Escherichia coli (E. coli) affects the human body to add on to my article about how the McDonald's E. coli outbreak raises concerns about food safety.
I wanted to showcase what someone should do before, during and after a fire as a reminder to not panic in dangerous situations as shown in my article where families were displaced due to an indoor fire.
I made this infographic as a guide on how a few Disney systems work, since planning for a Disney trip can be complex and stressful. To make it aesthetically pleasing, my friend and I drew pictures to make the infographic special. This is a part of one of my features.
I made this infographic to show how expensive Disney has become over the past few years for my feature about Disney planning a comeback. It justifies why many Disneyland guests, including the ones I interviewed, feel that they may not always get the best value for their money. Sometimes, it is easier to visualize data instead of writing sentences about it.
For my Dogs in the Quad article, I made an infographic about the therapy dogs that were there and what breeds they were. I also took the pictures of them as other students were petting them.
In addition to the staff profile I wrote about crisis management counselor Shelley Bustamante, I included tips she recommended when helping students overcome mental struggles.
For my article displaying how the Peer Tutoring Club at Carlmont impacts students positively, I wanted to showcase what subjects are most difficult for students in a way that was colorful and not just text. In contrast to just school subjects, I decided to use colors that stood out and were pleasing to look at.
To prove how much of an impact "Friends" has on people, I made an infographic about how the TV show started trends and enabled people to learn English.
For one of my features, I wrote about how pop culture, such as "Friends," the popular TV show, has enabled people to learn English. In this infographic, learning a language isn't limited to watching a TV show or learning from a class, as there are many ways to learn a language.
