A group of four WPI college students worked together in the community of La Perla San Juan, Puerto Rico to build a rainwater harvesting system and help engage with the community.
The goal of our project is to help La Perla grow into a community that is able to overcome societal tensions by interacting with community members and building smaller projects that will ideally lead to greater community strength. Our team will collaborate closely with La Perla community members, assessing their water needs to design an efficient rainwater system. We will analyze the project's financial implications and sustainability to ensure long-term success for the community. We will also assess the current community collaborations and investigate ways to further foster engagement.
