Lap Press helps you analyze workout recordings and add missing routes, heart rate, measured workout metrics, and, when you ask for them, missing workouts to Apple Health. Lap Press does not operate an account service, upload your workouts to developer-run servers, sell your information, show advertising, or include analytics or tracking SDKs.
You choose which files to open and which Health permissions to grant. Lap Press processes activity times, locations, source-reported position uncertainty, available device descriptions, altitude, distance, recorded pauses, heart rate, and available running or cycling measurements on your device. It reads workout summaries and routes for matching, records, charts, and heatmaps. Optional bulk workout export can also read selected active and resting energy, step counts, swimming stroke counts, and walking/running, cycling, swimming, or wheelchair distance. Supported running and cycling measurements include power, speed, cadence, stride length, vertical oscillation, and ground contact time where available. When available, it reads weather saved with a workout and uses its active-energy total in a FIT export. Opening, analyzing, or exporting an activity does not create or modify a Health workout.
Adding Health data requires your action and write permission. Lap Press writes approved route, heart-rate, and measured workout-metric types, preserving skipped types. A workout it creates from a Garmin export can carry the activity’s name and calories from the export’s summary file. Route analysis metadata keeps times, distance, recorded pauses, lap summaries, altitude, available device descriptions, source-reported position uncertainty, and permitted positions so best efforts can be reopened accurately. New attachments use a generic name rather than the source filename; older attachments may retain filenames. The preserved analysis may extend outside the workout’s times, while attached samples are limited to the workout. Sensor readings are saved separately under their own permissions. Replacement saves new data before deleting earlier Lap Press data of the same types. Remove Added Route and Metrics preserves the parent workout. Delete Imported Workout requires confirmation and only deletes a workout Lap Press created, after its added readings are cleaned up. Manage Imports lets you review and remove Lap Press data from selected workouts or delete selected workouts Lap Press created, without reopening the original files. Batches stop on the first removal error; unfinished cleanup remains recoverable. Other apps’ samples are not deleted. Create Missing Workouts is off by default and requires reviewing selected activities. Only accessible overlaps can be checked: denied read access can hide existing workouts or heart rate, so check Fitness before creating workouts or importing potentially duplicate readings. Calorie repair is a separate operation that you review and confirm. It can write active-energy samples with your permission and keeps recovery records for interrupted work. User-added missing-run segments are local estimates; they are not written as recorded GPS or included in ordinary Health attachments.
Records, heatmaps, and segment times are cached outside ordinary app backups and may be cleared by the system. Clear Local Analysis Data removes these caches without deleting Health data or ignored-time choices. Completed analysis is revalidated on refresh or after a week. Ignored-time choices and saved segments are excluded from backup. Lap Press also stores preferences, the home zone, saved segments (short stretches of route you choose to compare), notification progress, and identifiers and stages needed to recover interrupted imports and removals. Preferences and recovery identifiers may be included in system device backups. Recovery records remain until completion or cleanup succeeds and can be reviewed in Health Data & Recovery. Fitness caches, ignored-time choices, recovery files, and temporary exports use iOS protection that requires the first unlock after restart and permits background work after relocking. Direct activity exports are removed when sharing completes or is canceled. Bulk workout ZIPs, route-review ZIPs, and route/heatmap artwork remain temporarily available on their export screen for preview or repeated sharing; they are removed when you leave that screen or discard or replace the export. Canceling generation removes incomplete output. Abandoned app export folders older than a day are cleaned on launch. Saving or sharing a file creates a separate copy controlled by your chosen destination; Lap Press does not delete that copy. Original files saved in Files remain under your control. Per-workout choices to flag a route for review, mark it as suspicious, hide or show flagged heatmap sections, dismiss a flag, or hide a workout are stored as preferences with workout identifiers. They may be included in system backups and remain when analysis caches are cleared. These choices affect heatmap display and its artwork exports; they do not edit Health routes or best-effort analysis. The open activity is also retained locally: a Health workout by its identifier, or one imported recording with its samples and options. This protected session is excluded from backups and cleared when you close the activity. Separate save confirmations retain recording and payload hashes, workout/import identifiers, sample counts, and options, without filenames or recording samples. They are protected, excluded from backups, and retained after closing so a reimport can verify its save status. Missing-run annotations retain the estimated coordinates, times, and provenance locally in protected storage excluded from backups; remove them in the missing-segment editor. Saved collections retain names and workout identifiers in preferences. Visual compositions, saved looks, selected photos, and custom marker images are stored locally for reopening the editor and may be included in system backups. Clearing analysis caches does not clear these sessions, confirmations, annotations, collections, or visual drafts.
When you enable Hide Privacy Zones, Lap Press removes positions inside any saved circle or polygon zone from new route attachments, preserved analysis, direct activity exports, and rendered route lines. Bulk workout export has a separate Apply Privacy Zones option, on by default, that uses all your currently enabled privacy zones. Turning that export option off includes full accessible route coordinates in that export. An enabled export option does not create privacy zones if none are configured and enabled. Other measurements, such as times and distance, remain. This does not remove locations from the original file, previous exports, or earlier Health attachments. Replace an earlier attachment with hiding enabled to update it. Privacy zones are stored as preferences on your device. Hiding coordinates does not guarantee that a person cannot infer an area from the remaining route or map.
Maps and map images use Apple MapKit, which may contact Apple for map content. If you choose Weather Show, Lap Press sends a visible activity location and the activity time to Apple WeatherKit to request conditions. It does not fall back to a hidden position when no visible location remains. Weather already stored with a workout is displayed without a weather request. Garmin Connect and other website links open external services; your use of those services is governed by their own privacy policies. Your Apple Health sync and backup settings control Apple’s handling of Health data separately from Lap Press.
Exports and share cards leave Lap Press only when you choose to share or save them. They may contain sensitive workout details, including routes, heart rate, performance information, workout and sample identifiers, dates, and source names or bundle identifiers. Bulk workout export lets you choose activity types, dates, GPS, supported metrics, and JSON, CSV, or GPX formats in a ZIP. JSON and CSV preserve selected measurements and workout events; bulk GPX contains route coordinates and elevation. This exports accessible supported workout data, not Apple’s complete Health database or a guaranteed complete backup. Denied or limited read access may appear as missing data; export notes describe unavailable data and query errors. Quantity samples matched by the workout source and time window are identified separately from directly linked samples. Route review creates a ZIP containing readable GPS, workout events, source identifiers, and a report of flagged connections. It uses the active privacy-zone filters. Optional world-record screening also reads running distance samples and includes best-effort comparisons and distance readings in the review export; it does not read age or sex or request other measurements. Route and heatmap sharing can create PNG images, transparent PNGs, and a heatmap-building MOV. The destination app or service controls the copy you send. Optional missing-map notifications use Health background updates and Apple’s notification system. Notification previews can show workout dates, distance, and activity type; you can control previews and disable notifications in system settings. Visual sharing can also include photos, text, and custom images you select. Photo selection does not upload your library to Lap Press servers. Export GPX with Estimates is a separate action that can include labeled user-estimated coordinates and timestamps; another app may interpret them as recorded data. Standard activity exports do not include these estimates.
You can change or revoke Health access in Apple Health or system privacy settings and disable missing-map notifications. Revoking access does not automatically remove information already saved. Use Remove Added Route and Metrics, Delete Imported Workout, Health Data & Recovery, or Apple Health’s data-management controls as appropriate. Clear Local Analysis Data preserves Health data and ignored-time choices; resetting ignored times is a separate confirmed action. Delete exports in Files and destination services separately. Deleting the app removes local data but does not automatically delete Health data, exports, copies in other services, or existing backups.
