Principal Investigator
Joe Langenhan attended Allegheny College beginning in the fall of 1994. Originally interested in pursuing a degree in English, Langenhan eventually shifted his focus to chemistry after taking several science courses to fulfill his core requirements. During the course of his undergraduate career, Langenhan performed research with Professor Edward Walsh at Allegheny, Professor Daniel Romo then at Texas A & M University, and Professor Eric Kool, then at the University of Rochester. After receiving a B.S. in Chemistry from Allegheny College in 1998, Langenhan pursued graduate studies with Professor Samuel H. Gellman at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Department of Chemistry and earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 2003. He then conducted two years of post-doctoral research with Professor Jon S. Thorson (then at the Laboratory for Biosynthetic Chemistry in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison) before moving to Seattle University in 2005, where he is currently Professor of Chemistry.
