Football
The nine years I played football throughout grade school have shown me how to create connections with others to the point of feeling like family. I made lifelong friends during these years, and this attitude could be used in a long-term work environment. Football was not very fun near the end of my years of playing, but I played for the sake of my friends instead of quitting because quitting would have shown a lack of grit and commitment to my friends and the people that depended on me.
Track and Field
Track and field has shown me how to set and achieve goals. For example, I set a goal when I was throwing at my high school to set the school record, which I achieved. I also aimed to win my high school regional championship and advance to the Kentucky State track meet, which I successfully did. Track and field has shown me that I can do anything I want with hard work and dedication. There is more on these accomplishments on my accomplishments page!
Wrestling
Wrestling is by far the most challenging sport I have done, mentally and physically, and it taught me what adversity truly is. At one point, I was losing over eight pounds of water weight every practice. Not to mention the terrible times of being unable to eat food to make weight for the next wrestling meet. I had a lot of mental battles to go through during wrestling, but I stuck it out and finished two years of it at my high school. The main component that I took from wrestling is that when the going gets tough, I should always stick it out to the end because it will pay off a high percentage of the time.
