As Production Manager for Blue Raider Television, I oversaw the operational backbone of MTSU's student-run television organization. This role required coordinating multiple show productions simultaneously while also managing schedules, and crew assignments across our entire programming slate. I worked closely with individual show producers to troubleshoot logistical challenges and keep productions on schedule. A significant aspect of this position involved crew development and training.
Being the production manager required balancing the educational mission of student media with the professional standards expected of broadcast television. Managing a student organization taught me valuable lessons in leadership, resource allocation, and diplomatic problem-solving. The experience strengthened my project management skills and my ability to see the big picture while handling day-to-day operational details. This position prepared me for professional production environments by giving me hands-on experience in the administrative and logistical aspects of television production that often happen behind the scenes.
This summer, I have been serving as a Production Intern for GameTime Productions, a live sports broadcast company that is currently specializing in Athletes Unlimited events. My responsibilities include supporting the production team during live control room operations, coordinating daily production logistics such as catering and craft services, and collaborating with the graphics department on statistical research and on-air graphics development.
The internship runs through August 2025, and the experience has highlighted the critical importance of organization and communication skills in live television production. I've learned that sports broadcasting operates like a precision instrument—every team member must work in perfect coordination to deliver seamless live coverage.
