Have a look and try some of these examples which work alongside our Harris Standard for high quality learning, teaching and assessment.
At Harris there is nothing that can sharpen our teaching practice more than sharing and reflecting on our own and others good practice. Below is a list of some of the Teaching Technique Tuesday inputs that help us to share some of that great practice from within the school and current research regarding pedagogy.
A big thanks to Ms Matthew for sharing. Classroomscreen.com is a website, best accessed through Edge/Google Chrome. It allows you use your promethean board/smartboard/monitor screen for a number of different things, all from one website. Classroomscreen basically allows you to turn any board or monitor display into a visual kit for your classes. It can be used on a touch display or using a mouse.
As we move forward with blended learning, interacting live online with classes will be something that comes under our radar. Many departments at Harris are currently navigating this platform for learning and it was great to spend some time chatting to Mr Haxton from our Music department regarding the impact live lessons have had on pupil learning. This interview looks at the technology the department uses, strengths of live lessons and the perceived impact on pupil learning.
This weeks sharing good practice comes from Mrs Reaper and Mrs Nicoll, and explains the 'Virtual Classroom' (VC). A document that looks like an animated classroom and can be shared very easily with pupils. Personally, I love them as they are creative and encourage exploration and discovery. They are also very friendly for pupils using handheld devices such as mobiles or tablets for remote learning.
At Harris the software that we have chosen as our learning and teaching platform with our Senior phase classes is Microsoft teams. It has a wealth of features that can be used to support excellent learning and teaching. Have a listen to the interview with Keith Anderson, our PT Physics on some of its strengths and then watch his tutorial on screen sharing.
