There will be a registration fee of 400 EUR (single room, 14,000 TWD) or 330 EUR (shared twin room, 11,500 TWD). This fee can be considered as a deposit for participation in the workshop, with the funds covering meals, transport, and two nights' hotel accommodation for Days 3-4 hosted outside of Taipei. As a result, the registration fee is non-refundable. For clarity, the fee will cover:
20th Oct: Evening welcome reception near NTU campus in Taipei (no accommodation)
21st Oct: Venue costs, coffee breaks and lunch at NTU campus in Taipei (no accommodation/dinner)
22nd Oct: Venue costs, coffee breaks and lunch, as well as transport to Taichung for group dinner and accommodation at OHotel
23rd Oct: Transport to field-based workshop discussion activities, lunch, dinner and accommodation at Hot Spring Hotel
24th Oct: Transport to Earthquake Museum venue for proposal writing with lunch/snacks, and transport to Taipei for evening flights/further travel (no accommodation)
Online registration fee payment for accepted participants will be expected at the end of July (information via email). Personal invoices will be distributed in person on-site.
Please note that the registration fee does not cover accommodation in Taipei for 20th, 21st, or 24th Oct. Accommodation will therefore need to be booked independently by selected participants for these nights. Our recommended hotel is The Howard Civil Service International House Hotel, located <10 min walk from the workshop venue at NTU. If you would like to take advantage of the university-negotiated rate, please indicate your preference in the application form so we can assist with booking. Payment will be made by participants directly at the hotel.
The registration fee does not cover any flight costs, but we recommend arriving afternoon of 20th Oct latest to attend the welcome reception. Return flights leaving late evening (>9pm) on 24th are possible.
- Applications for travel grants are now closed and successful candidates have been contacted via email -
Student members of the International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) can make a parallel application for travel grants via IAS portal or the link to our workshop on the IAS website. We also encourage ECRs to approach their national scientific drilling program offices for seeking co-funding support
The workshop sponsors also have limited funding for additional travel grants, aimed at encouraging the attendance of early career researchers. The quantity and value of grants will be determined by the number of applicants, and can therefore only be dispersed closer to the workshop date. As a result, all applicants must be capable of paying the registration fee/flights upfront despite the potential for some costs to be offset later by a travel grant. Please indicate your intention to apply for our internal travel support in the application form.
US APPLICANTS: There are further restrictions for funding provided by USSSP. Please read the details circulated via email carefully and contact us with any questions.
