Sustainability
Sustainability is one of our core values and is embedded in our planning process;
We have been carefully planning our transition to low carbon design and how best to improve energy efficiency in our homes using new technologies;
This includes testing and investing in innovative solutions to acheieve our aim for all homes in use to be net zero by 2030;
In 2024, 541 acres of public open space and gardens were provided for families;
215,000 trees were also planting on our own developments in 2024.
Building Success in the North East
Persimmon Homes employs a dedicated national training team as well as a dedicated network of Regional Apprentice Managers who work closely with school and colleges to nurture young people who want a career in construction.
To work closely with young people at the start of their career, we work with individual schools and colleges and have a dedicated training academy at Newcastle College, which was launched in 2024.
Across England, Scotland and Wales, we have between 240 - 400 apprentices at any one time;
Persimmon have positive relationships with education providers across the North East, including Newcastle College, Tyne Met College, Education Partnership North East, and Teesside University.
Last year Persimmon launched the Duncan Davidson Foundation Scholarship, offering young people the opportunity to gain structured vocational training across multiple construction disciplines.
