Finding a theme
Finding a theme
The project team for the Life and Mind Building had endless meetings over several years. The time came when we were considering motifs for the façade. We were looking for something that could symbolise themes relevant to both the psychological and biological research that the building would host. After much creative brainstorming, I suggested “signals”. There are so many of them; they take so many shapes; they are beautiful; they are meaningful; they are versatile; we all worked with them every day – brain activity, eye movements, heartbeat, muscle excitability, circadian rhythms, respiration, migration patterns, calcium levels, pH changes… The idea clicked. The hunt was on for choosing which signals would dress the building.
