INTRODUCTION TO AVIATION FOR KIDS: The class explores how humans learned to fly, the early aviation flight experiments, the Wright brothers aircraft, basic airplane components, how an airplane flies, model glider flying and pilot experience in the Museum’s flight simulator. The material is suggested for kids ages 8 to 12 and class duration is 2 hours.

INTRODUCTION TO FLIGHT: The curriculum explores aircraft components, flight dynamics and flight path control. Students learn about the flight deck, including aircraft control operation and the flight instruments. These basics are then applied as the student flies a series of maneuvers in the Museum’s dynamic flight simulator. The material is suggested for kids ages 10 and up and the class duration is 2.5 hours.

INTRODUCTION TO ROCKETS & SPACECRAFT: Students learn about flight components including rocket engines, controls, structures & payloads. The different types of spacecraft are identified. Flight paths including earth & solar system referenced are introduced. Students build and fly a simple rocket model. The material is suggested for kids ages 10 and up and class duration is 2.5 hours.
AVIATION FOR SCOUTS: Using the Aviation Merit Badge manual and workbook students will prepare to meet many of the requirements for the Merit Badge. This will be done through class discussions and exhibits located in the Museum. Examples of what will be covered are: Review different types of aircraft & preflight one of the Museum’s aircraft. Prepare for and fly a mission in the Museum’s flight simulator. The material is suggested for Boy Scouts and class duration of 3 hours.
