Rounds and scoring

Archers must be with 6 inches of the peg for each shot taken

An arrow has to touch the line of the higher zone to score the higher value.

Some targets have non scoring areas - typically not an animal part.

If in doubt that your arrow scores then take another shot noting where it hits or even better is a different coloured nock or fletching

No binoculars or range finders are allowed on the course and/or taking of notes.

Archers should bring lots of arrows as some target you may be shooting up to 6 arrows.

Saturday Round scoring - 30 Targets (Long Walk)

The round will consist of a mixture or Regular targets and Trad Fun targets. Targets will be 3D or Silhouette.


Regular Targets

3 arrow round first arrow scoring

First arrow - Heart and Lung Zone - 20points, Body Zone - 18points

Second arrow - Heart and Lung Zone - 16points, Body Zone - 14points

Third arrow - Heart and Lung Zone - 12points, Body Zone - 10points 


Trad fun target

Shooting requirements and scoring as per sign board at each target

Sunday Round scoring - 20 targets (short walk)

The round will consist of a mixture or Regular and Trad Fun targets.

Targets will all be 3D targets.


Regular Targets

3 arrow round first arrow scoring

First arrow - Heart zone - 20points, Lung zone - 18points, Body Zone - 16points

Second arrow  Heart zone - 14points, Lung zone - 12points, Body Zone - 10points

Third arrow  Heart zone - 8points, Lung zone - 6points, Body Zone - 4points 


Trad fun target

Shooting requirements and scoring as per sign board at each target

Specialty targets

Typically four arrows are shot at each specialty target

Heart/Lung zone - scores 10 points

Body zone - scores 5 points

Unless defined otherwise at target

Event will have 5 specialty targets made up of the following speciality types

Specialty Target - 20 second snap

The Target is hidden behind a screen

Arrows must be in quiver and not on string

The screen is raised for 20 seconds and archer has to nock and then shoot up to 4 arrows at target before screen is lowered.

Archers shoud be provided a look at the target before timing starts

Specialty Target - 5 second snap

The Target is hidden behind a screen

Arrows must be in quiver and not on string

The screen is raised for 5 seconds and archer must nock arrow on string and shoot arrow at the target before screen is lowered.

The screen then remains down for a 5 second period.

This process is repeated 4 times.

If screen comes down and the arrow is not shot in time archer must remove and drop arrow.

Archers should be provided a look at the target before timing starts.

Specialty Target - 30 second run

Archer stands at start peg.

Arrows must be in quiver and not on string

A timer will yell go and yell stop at end of 30 seconds.

Within 30 seconds the archer runs to first peg and shoots at target, then runs to second peg and shoots at target, then runs to third peg and shoots at target, then runs to last fourth peg and shoots at target.

Any arrows that have not hit target in time period do not score.

Archers don't get to see what they are shooting until they get to the first peg.


Specialty Target - Moving target

Archer stands at start peg.

Arrows must be knocked on string

A target will be released and as it passes a specific corridor the archer will shoot at the target.

This is repeated four times.

Archers should be provided a look at the target moving once before shooting starts on next run past.

If there are two shooting pegs for two archers at a time 2 shots will be taken from each peg.


Specialty Target - Knock down

Archer stands at start peg.

Arrows must be in quiver and not on string

A timer will yell go and yell stop at end of 30 seconds.

Within 30 seconds the archer can shoot up to 4 arrows attempting to nock down the scoring targets and not hit the penalty targets.

Any arrows that have not hit target in time period do not score.

Scoring 10 points scoring target

minus 5 for penalty target.

Future specialty options

Specialty Target - Stalker

Archer stands at start peg.

The archer will have 3 minutes to follow a rope laid out in a specific course and they must identify and shoot any target discovered along the course.

The Archer can not walk backwards along course.

The Stalker finishes when 2 minutes time is up or when they shoot at the last target.

There may be up to 6 targets but numbers size and location will not be known by archer.

Scoring and retrieving of arrows will be done by others running stalker.  

Archers are not to discuss course with others until all archers have completed this event.

Axe or Knife throwing

Archer stands at start peg and receives 6 items for which they have a practice throw at both the short distance and long distance.

The archer will then select 4 of the six items and throw two from the short distance and two from the long distance.

Scoring will be defined where items embed into target
