A sad sight from 1963 shows two Lainchburys Threshing machines used as a base for the Nov 5th bonfire on Kingham Green.
The following day the remaining metal work would be collected and sold as scrap, Because of the number of Threshers they had this process continued for many years until all of the machines were destroyed.

This strange picture of a cow and her calf going down a Lainchburys elevator was taken in 1958, possibly photographed by Keith Durn of Tewkesbury.
The picture was in the possession of David Lainchbury who obtained the picture from his uncle Mr E J Lainchbury.
Apparently somehow the calf had managed to get up the steps into the hay loft with the cow following her, the dilemma was how to get them down and a it's seems a solution was found by using an old Lainchbury elevator.
I think it is a superb picture and the animals walk down almost as if they did so regularly.
