Project Description:
For this project, I had to research and find examples of reported system scams, virus, or information security. I used news websites and other media to gather information. Lastly, I participated in a cyber training and earned a certificate.
Lessons Learned:
I learned that technology can be manipulated and people can take advantage of it. It is important to stay alert and take care of your device for security. Frauds and scams can expose a lot of personal information. Also, the cyber training gave me knowledge about "phishing", "mobile security", "ransomware" and many other things. The assignment and the training were very informative!
CyberSecurity in the News:
This article shares an incident where a man named Okechukwu Nwofo from New York was jailed for 6 years for scamming and laundering money through romance and business compromises. The scam cost $1 million. Nwofo led a gang on the internet, they pretended to be love interests or business associates so people can trust them easily and be in their trap. This scam not only robbed many people, it also led to one death by suicide. This incident proves how important it is to stay alert online. People should take care of their information, they shouldn't trust strangers, and they should protect themselves from these kinds of traps.

This article talks about an incident where Crozer hospitals were hit by a ransomeware attack. It was widely spread however, no patient was in danger because of it. It affected many facilities such as Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Taylor Hospital, and Delaware County Memorial Hospital and Springfield Hospital. Later on, it was revealed that the attack was a part of a wider attach in which several states were involved. This attack also led to the closure of some hospitals and primary care services. This proves that ransomeware attacks can be dangerous especially in a location like hospitals where patients lives can be in danger.
