With several City promotional exams on the horizon, including the upcoming Management Analyst exam, we want to make sure you have the tools and support needed to prepare effectively and confidently.

As a reminder, LACEAAA offers a study materials library available exclusively to members. This is a repository of past members’ study tools designed to support your exam preparation and ongoing learning. If you have not yet requested access, we strongly encourage you to do so and take full advantage of what’s available HERE. 

We also recognize that the volume of material can sometimes feel overwhelming. So to help you study more efficiently, we will be providing a training session on leveraging AI tools to support your exam preparation. Even if you’re new to AI, this session can help you with practical strategies for organizing materials, identifying key themes, generating practice questions, and building a more structured study plan using AI. Whether you’re preparing for the Management Analyst exam in July or another upcoming opportunity, these resources are designed to give you a clearer path forward. 

As a preview for the training, we are also sharing an 8-week study plan geared towards the Management Analyst multiple choice exam in July. (Disclaimer: The study schedule was generated with the help of AI using the exam bulletin as a prompt, but reviewed by humans who have previously taken the exam!) We hope it kickstarts your curiosity about AI as a tool to help you succeed.

One of the purposes of LACEAAA is to assist its members in preparing for promotional opportunities. As the City ramps up hiring, multiple promotional opportunities are on the horizon such as the Management Analyst, Administrative Analyst, Personnel Analyst, and many more!

In an effort to facilitate opportunities for our members,  we are launching a Mentoring/Mock Interview Match. We’re reaching out to LACEAAA members in senior roles with the City to be potential mentors who could provide mock interviews for members studying for promotional exams. If you are interested in participating as an interviewer, please fill out this INTEREST FORM and we’ll put you on the list to be matched with a fellow LACEAAA member who is interested in promoting. We hope to make these matches by the end of August, so please let us know about your interest as soon as possible. 

What will be involved: 

• If you are matched with a mentee or mentees, we’ll introduce you and you can exchange contact information.

• You and your match can set up a mutually agreeable time to perform the mock interview. The mock interview, including feedback, should only take about 45 minutes and may be conducted online.

• We’ll provide some sample interview questions, but don’t hesitate to bring your specific expertise to the interview!

The Administrative Analyst examination is fast approaching and LACEAAA is happy to announce a training opportunity! We will be offering a one-day online seminar on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 8:30 AM, that will cover important topics such as:

3. Contracting & Procurement

4. Personnel

5. Mathematical Concepts

If you plan on taking the Management Analyst exam in the future, this is a great foundational session that will touch on many of the same topics.
