Claude d'Aspremont

" The Dixit-Stiglitz model after forty years: what can we do without the 'large group' assumption"

Claude d’Aspremont is Emeritus Professor in Economics, member and Past-President of the Center for Operations Research and Econometrics (CORE) at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL), Belgium. He came to CORE after receiving his Ph.D in decision sciences from Stanford in 1973. He has been Chair of the Economics Department at UCL from 1991 to 1994. His main contributions have been in Game theory, Oligopoly theory, Social Choice and Mechanism Design. He is President of the Society for Social Choice and Welfare. He was elected Fellow of the Econometric Society in 1984, received the Francqui Prize in 1995 and an honorary doctoral degree from University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg in 2002. He has been visiting professor at the universities of Aix-Marseille, Strasbourg I and Paris I, at the Laboratoire d’Econométrie in Ecole Polytechnique (Paris) and at the Graduate School of Business Stanford. He is or was associate editor of several scientific Journals, including Games and Economic Behavior, Social Choice and Welfare and the Journal of Public Economic Theory.

Alain Trannoy

Alain Trannoy is research professor at EHESS and the director of Aix-Marseille School of Economics. Her main research interests fall in the broad area of public economics.His main research fieldsare economic inequality and equality of opportunity, taxation,financing higher education, and housing economics. He has published papers in the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, The Journal of Economic Literature, the Journal of Economic Theory, the Journal of Public Economics, the Journal of Labor Economics, the Journal of European Economic Association, the Rand Journal of Economics, Social Choice and Welfare etc. He belonged to the Council of Economic Advisors of the French Prime Minister from 2012 to 2016.
