I am a graduate student in the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University. I started my program in the fall of 2024, and I expect to graduate with my Master of Science in Journalism in spring 2026.

As a first-semester graduate student, I am working on establishing myself at Iowa State University and getting acquainted with my cohort, peers from other programs and professors. Tracy Lucht, a professor and interim director at Greenlee, is my major professor for my thesis on a comparative content analysis of news coverage through framing theory between Iowa newsrooms using the Senate File 418 as a case study.

I have been the teaching assistant for two classes since I began my program:

JLMC 1010: Mass Media and Society (Fall 2024, Fall 2025)

ADVRT 2300: Principals of Advertising (Spring 2025, Fall 2025)

Upon completion of my graduate program, I intend to stay in the news industry and get more hands-on experience as a journalist and find my niche in the field. My ultimate goal — and driving reason for getting my master's degree — is to teach at the collegiate level in order to advise, inspire and nurture student journalists as they begin their journey.
