GOALS AND METHODS
Goal: To provide financial assistance for the study of music to junior instrumentalists or vocalists who are physically handicapped.
Method: To receive application(s) and proceed with adjudications.
Other information: The Elizabeth Paris Scholarship for the Physically Handicapped was established in 2012 to award $200 annually to support a physically handicapped student’s musical progress. Monies come from the Kentucky Life Membership Fund, which KFMC established in 2008, at the urging of Elizabeth Paris. The winner ins one year will not be eligible to apply the following year.
REQUIREMENTS
1. The applicant must have reached the 10th birthday, but not the 19th, by April 1 of the audition year.
2. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a Kentucky resident.
3. The applicant must be enrolled as a student with a qualified teacher.
4. The applicant must have a KFMC connection, either as a Junior member (class or individual), son or daughter of a KFMC member, student of a KFMC member, or recommended by a KFMC member.
5. The applicant must submit a CD of 2 pieces (not to exceed 10 minutes total) along with a copy of the scores, numbering the measures, and listing titles and composers in order of performance. This should be mailed, along with the application, to the Awards chair, listed above, by May 1 of the current calendar year.
6. The applicant must include a letter of recommendation from his/her music teacher.
7. The applicant must include a letter from a medical doctor stating the nature and duration of the physical disability.

Applicant must submit a CD and copy of the scores for judges to use for reference. Submit these along with a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s private music teacher. All entrants must have a connection with KFMC, either as a Junior member, son or daughter of a member, student of a member or recommended by a member. Also include a letter from a medical doctor stating the nature and duration of the physical disability.
