In order to make data-informed decisions, reporting systems should build, track, and report data related to early postsecondary programs. This data should be connected to a broader continuous improvement process to guide and support partners - at the district, school, institution, and even classroom level - in leveraging insights from the data to inform program design and ensure student success. For example, K-12 and higher education administrators can use data to refine course offerings; counselors can use it to encourage students to enroll; and educators can use it to intentionally design student supports.
Set a clear, measurable goals for advancing access to and success in early postsecondary programs and commit to measuring progress towards those goals.
Establish Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to define data-sharing agreements.
Ensure all partners have timely access to relevant data to inform program design and student supports.
Provide training and support to those using the data.
