April 28, Workers Memorial Day - Karoshi OUT!  actioin

OSH Link(Taiwan), KILSH(South Korea), POSSE(Japan), and LIPS(Indonesia) have worked to raise awareness of overwork, Karoshi and Karoshijisatsu and shared information. For April 28, we took pictures with messages(Stop Overwork! Act Now! / No Karoshi! Yes Workers' health!) and made one images with them.

April 28th is known as International Workers’ Memorial Day, a day of remembrance for workers who are injured at work. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), more than 337 million accidents occur every year around the world and 2.3 million workers are killed annually.

It is important to note that workers who suffer from brain or heart diseases and from various mental illnesses from both overwork and workplace harassment are also victims of workplace accidents. Every year, thousands of workers in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia and all over the world lose their lives from Karoshi (death from overwork) or Karojisatsu (suicide from overwork) but businesses and governments have continuously ignored to take measures to combat the issue.

We should not forget workers who lost their jobs to overwork. Karoshi Watch in Asia demands more action to eliminate karoshi and shorten the working day as well as eliminate workplace injuries.
