Chandrayaan-3 was a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2 to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface. The main objective of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar landing mission was to achieve a safe and soft landing near the lunar south pole. On 23 August 2023, India achieved a major milestone in space exploration as Chandrayaan-3 successfully performing a soft landing near the south pole region of the moon. Our team at U R Rao Satellite Center was responsible for Design, Analysis, Implementation and Realization of Guidance, Navigation and Control System for powered descent and landing.
